Get your scissors ready… we may be several days into June, but this Sunday’s paper contains the “big” inserts. There will be:
(1) Procter & Gamble
(1) SmartSource
(1) RedPlum (Valassis)
Does your area no longer receive the Red Plum inserts? You can find more information about that here.
Also, have you ever thought about what to do with your expired coupons? I know some stores will accept expired coupons, but most will not.
As I file new coupons in my folder, I remove the expired ones and add them to my “expired coupon box.” Yes, I have a box specifically for expired coupons
Now, before you think I’m some nut (okay… I am, but hear me out!) for saving my expired coupons, let me tell you about this nifty little program…
You can send your expired coupons to soldiers overseas! Troops and their families usually do not have access to the coupons we get in our newspapers… and the base commissary will accept coupons that are up to 2 months expired. For more information, please read A Thrifty Mom’s post on Expired Coupons? or visit the Adopt-A-Base page. There are currently several locations in need of adoption. And, this is another fabulous, easy way to take care of our troops!
Another way to send coupons to troops is to join Coupons for Troops. For questions, more information, or to be assigned an overseas family please send an email to coupons4troops@comcast.net
{Note from Amy: I didn’t think that the military commissary accepted Internet printable coupons, but, according to this post on A Happy Housewife, they accept coupons AND Internet printables for up to SIX MONTHS past their expiration date…}
Either way, you are helping out our troops and their families. They do SO MUCH for us… the least we can do is help them save money!
