I really appreciate your $5 CVS challenge. I used to go “CVSing” quite a bit, but finances are really tight and sometimes it seems difficult to jump in and get those ECBs to start rolling forward. Your CVS challenge scenarios are just perfect for getting going and sticking to a budget! Thanks for posting them 🙂

@Tara F, Thanks for your kind words, Tara! That is exactly why I post it each week. Starting small is the best way to get “rolling”. 🙂 Thanks so much for being a loyal reader!

My $1.12 Out of Pocket Deal at CVS on 09/05/2010:

CVS has Kellogg’s Cereal for $1.77 a box. When I scanned by CVS Rewards card upon entering the store, I received a coupon $3.00 off of $10.00 on groceries.

So, I ended up doing the following:

    2 boxes of Fruit Loops = Regular Price $8.58 – $5.04 sale = $3.54 – $1.50 MFC = $2.54 for both

    2 boxes of Rice Krispies = Regular Price – $8.98 – $5.44 sale = $3.54 – $1.00 MFC = $2.00 for both

    2 boxes of Raisin Bran – Regular Price – $8.98 – $5.44 sale = $3.54 – $1.00 MFC = $2.54 for both

$26.54 – $15.92 (savings from regular shelf price) – $3.50 MFCs -$3.00 (CVS grocery) – $1.00 Extra buck coupon – $2.00 Extra Buck coupon = TOTAL PAID Out of Pocket $1.12
