Ministry Monday: Count Your Blessings

let-your-light-shineThere are many times in my life, when I feel I just need more.

More of what? I’m not sure I could put my finger on the more I need… but you know that feeling.

The feeling that something is missing; the emptiness in your stomach, or that hollow feeling in your chest.

I look at all I am surrounded with: a home, my girls, my wonderful husband, great friends, my family, a loving church… and yet, sometimes it doesn’t feel like it is enough.

It is so easy to look at a good thing and think of ways it could be better. Like our husbands? Couldn’t they be better: providers? head of household? listener? partner? friend? Even when he is doing a good job, there are times I think, “he could be better.”

There is that feeling of needing more.

Or, when your neighbor comes home with a new car that he can’t afford but bought anyway, and you think, “I need a new car, too!”

I need more.

So, how do we overcome these feelings of needing more?

As the old hymn goes, “Count your blessings. Name them one by one! Count your blessings, see what God has done!”

It is a simple statement, but taking a minute to remember the good in your life can help push those needy feelings aside.

And while we are on the subject of blessings…

I am blessed. {And I don’t just mean the “blessed” on my header *giggle*}. I truly am.  If you have noticed {and for those who haven’t… well, you need to visit my site more this would be considered new information}, my site has had some ah-may-zing changes take place over the weekend.

I began blogging to keep family updated on my girls, and then I moved to posting about what I love and enjoy; it was a hobby that opened so many doors.  Even so, I certainly never envisioned becoming friends with three of the sweetest, most amazing and thoughtful women in the world. And, yet here I am, and so very blessed to call Alyssa, Rachel, and Stephanie friends. Dear, sweet friends that I love and appreciate more than they know.

These girls snuck around and got Joy from Five J’s to do some beautiful customization to my website. Somehow, they managed to steal my password finagle a way into my admin site AND keep me off of the computer in order to surprise me with my new site design.

Alyssa, Rachel, and Stephanie aren’t just good friends, they are real friends; and for that I am beyond blessed. And, I am so humbled by the thoughtfulness of these three wonderful ladies. I cannot begin to thank you girls. Just know that I love you!
