A kind reader recently pointed out to me that for the not-so-tech-savvy, Blog Talk Radio may be a bit confusing at first glance. It is a wonderful resource for listeners of all ages and backgrounds. Chances are, if you want to learn more about a particular subject, there is already a show about it!

To clear up any confusion, I want to break down for you the simple ways to get connected on “BTR”. There are 4 ways to hear a show:

  1. Listen live through your computer. Anyone can listen in, but it is recommended that you register and create a profile to participate in the chat room (not a requirement). The live chat should appear automatically once you access the show.
  2. Listen live through your phone, any phone! Each show on BTR has a unique phone number assigned to it. While the show is live, you can call in and simply listen on hold, or you can tell the producer you have a question for the hosts. The producer will screen you, and notify the hosts that you are on hold.
  3. Listen to the archive on demand. The archives can be accessed from the blue BTR widgets you may see on a blog, like in my left sidebar. Simply click on the play button, and you can instantly hear the most recent episode. The other option for listening to archives is going to a show page. On our show page, it lists each episode we have aired in the past. Select the show title that you want to hear, and click play.
  4. Listen to show archives through iTunes with our free podcast feed. If you have iTunes installed on your computer, you can subscribe for free updates. Go to apple.com to select and find the feed you want. Your iTunes program should open automatically, and simply click on the “subscribe” button. All of the shows on the ElevenMoms radio network are automatically available on iTunes.

The unique phone number for Keeping It Centsible is 646-727-1024. Remember, this feature will only work while the show is live, every Thursday night at 7pm CST.

A few troubleshooting tips:

  • Access Blog Talk Radio through Firefox or Safari. For some reason, Internet Explorer can make it tricky to hear sound.
  • If you do not hear sound at first, refresh your browser.
  • You may need an update to your computer to hear Blog Talk Radio Shows- which it should prompt you to download automatically.
  • For more information about using iTunes with BTR, go here and click play.
  • For a complete online tutorial about becoming a listener on BTR, go here and click play.

If you have further questions, I am happy to answer them! There is also a comprehensive FAQ section on the BTR site that contains lots of helpful information.

Thank you for supporting and listening to our show! Denise and I truly enjoy connecting with our readers in this whole new way.
