Safeway (Tom Thumb): New Gas Rewards Points Promo in Texas + $50 Safeway Gift Card Giveaway!

Safeway Stores Gas Reward Points promotion in Texas is underway, and right now you can earn 4x Gas Reward Points when you purchase qualifying gift cards!

The program regularly works where every $1 spent on groceries gives you 1 point, every $1 spent on qualifying gift cards gives you 2 points, and every prescription filled gives you 50 points.

Now through October 29, for every $1 you spend on qualifying gift cards, you will earn FOUR points, instead of the regular two.  You can buy gift cards and use them like cash to quickly earn Gas Reward Points! Just shop at Safeway (or your local Safeway sister store) with your Club Card, purchase your gift cards, and watch your Gas Reward Points grow.

  • Every $10 gift card purchase = 40 points
  • Every $25 gift card purchase = 100 points = (1) 10¢ per gallon fuel reward.
  • Every $100 gift card purchase = 400 points = (4) 10¢ per gallon fuel rewards

For this giveaway, I shopped at my local Tom Thumb store. I do not normally purchase gift cards at a grocery store, so I was amazed at the amount of gift cards Tom Thumb had to offer. Literally, I was so blown away, I called my husband to ask him to help me choose! After about 10 minutes of deliberation (and a lot of back-and-forth), I picked a Starbucks Gift Card (yay for coffee!) and an Amazon Gift Card.

Other gift cards I saw included iTunes, Olive Garden, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Build-a-Bear, Target, and (many) more that I cannot remember!

Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon for a single fill-up at a Safeway gas station. You can use your points in increments of 100 and use up to 1000 points for a single fill-up.

  • 100 points = 10¢ off per gallon
  • 200 points = 20¢ off per gallon
  • 500 points = 50¢ off per gallon
  • 1000 points = $1 off per gallon

With my qualifying gift card purchases, I received 200 points total, for (2) 10¢ off per gallon fuel rewards!

    We have Randall’s here in Texas. Let’s see I would purchase… hmmm… what do you think will be on sale next week? I think I’d have to restock the chicken and shrimp that my family loves to eat.

    Dominicks is the sister store I shop at. I would use the gift card to buy groceries or other gift cards as you did and use them as Christmas gifts.

    We shop at Tom Thumb weekly (or more). I would use the card for my weekly groceries and splurge on a special item we normally don’t buy.

    Where I live has Safeway stores, so I would go there for grocery every week. I would use the GC on grocery, milk, and gas.

    I like you on FB! I visit my Safeway here is Phoenix. If I won the gift card I would probably stock up on meat, probably the cuts I can’t usually afford.

    I have Safeway where I live. My husband is self employed, I’m a SAHM of 4. I would probably use it for our regular weekly trip, ans hopefully stock up on meat if there’s a good sale.

    We are lucky–there is a Safeway store just five miles from our home. We live in a rural area (in the middle of nowhere). If it wasn’t for the local Safeway (which has a gas station :), we would need to drive at least 30 minutes away to the nearest town to shop!

    I shop at Safeway—none of the other sister stores are around here. But, I love Safeway! I would stock up on chicken breasts and frozen foods with the gift card if I won!

    I have a Safeway just a mile from my house and get groceries from there all the time…this would be great. I love all of the gift cards in the gift card mall….lowes would be on the top of my list
