I realize there are many questions about couponing, bargain shopping, and living frugally. I highly recommend Crystal’s blog, Money Saving Mom as a great place to start. I figured I would share the questions I receive from today’s talk on my blog, along with the answers. Feel free to leave comments. I am so happy to share this with other moms.
Questions from Denise:
“Thanks for the great talk today. Although I know intellectually about a lot of the things you talked about, I have not been putting them all in practice lately. Hopefully this will be my motivation! I have a few questions”:
Have you had any problems with the online coupons? I tried this when we lived in North Carolina and I had problems with stores accepting them, they said there were too many fraudulent ones around to accept them.
I have never had an online coupon get rejected, although I have heard of it happening. All of the stores I mentioned today (Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Tom Thumb, Wal-mart, Albertson’s, and Target) accept internet coupons. They are very widely used in our area, so you should not have any problems. Each online coupon you print has a special code to prevent fraud. If you have any issues with a coupon being rejected, politely ask to speak to the manager. They want your business, with or without coupons, and will generally do anything to make the customer happy!
Also, is it easy to cancel the Grocery Game? I would like to try it but doubt f I would keep with it because of the extra cost, though, who knows!
Well, the extra cost to me is 100% worth it. It saves me the time, hassle and brain work of matching coupons with sales prices. I stick to the list every week, and have had great success by using this method. One list per week adds only $1.25 to my grocery budget. Here is what I suggest: stock up on coupons from the Sunday inserts for a few weeks before you try the 4-week trial. Otherwise, you will be missing a lot of coupons on the list. It is very easy to cancel after the trial period, I assure you. You simply sign in to your account to modify your membership before your next billing date. I tried all 5 stores at first, and then narrowed it down to 3 of my favorites. Another benefit of the Grocery Game is the online forum, where coupon veterans share all of the best tips and ideas.
Lastly, CVS. I have never tried there so are there any tricks you can pass on or will I pick it up with the Grocery Game?
CVS is a bit more complicated, but can be very lucrative if played correctly. I was shocked to discover this at first, since I had always assumed CVS is more expensive. The Grocery Game will help you learn the system, but you don’t need to keep CVS after the 4-week trial period. Stick to online blogs for the best deal scenarios. The blogs I recommended are chock full of step-by-step instructions on how to “work” the system.
Hope this helps! Keep those questions coming, and happy bargain hunting!
