Deep breath… I have been putting this off for a few weeks, but today inspiration struck. I took a big risk today and shared many of my frugal ways with my MOPS group as a guest speaker. I really felt led to do this, and my goal is that another mom would be blessed by some of the things I have learned.

Boy was I nervous, and even a little shaky after 2 cups of coffee. Last night I could not sleep much, I was so excited. This morning I forced down a muffin before I spoke, and said a silent prayer. I spent months gearing up for this day, and it is finally over. I probably spoke way too fast, and jumped all over the place, but hopefully my message was clear. Once I started speaking, my nerves disappeared, and information just poured out of my mouth. I quickly realized that my shopping habits are quite different than most people in the room. But this is good, I do not want to shop like the average American consumer. It took many months for me to break my impulsive buying habits, give up my Starbucks, and eventually, my beloved Target. My efforts have paid off in a big way, and not just financially.

Having a plan and sticking to it has created order and peace in my home. I no longer feel guilty after spending too much at the store. I know without a doubt I am getting the best prices available, and becoming a better steward of God’s resources every day.

    Dear Alyssa,
Remember when you won a state writing contest? I am glad you are writing again. You should write some more poetry. I am very proud of you! Love, Mom

I have really enjoyed your blog. I have decided to start my own as my family climbs out of the debt hole we created. I changed my shopping habits over a year and am blogging about how to shop more thrifty. Like you I am surprised not everyone shops like me but then again it took me awhile to change my habits. I only hope that I can encourage other women and inspire. Most of all I pray it glorifies Jesus!
    Thanks, Kelly
