Thank you, Grocery Game! The Albertsons list in DFW this week is really awesome. Kroger, not so much. I decided to shop late last night to take advantage of the specials before everyone else does. The deals are a bit complicated, so read carefully.
Buy 10 selected products for 10/$15, mix and match, and save an additional $5.
Buy 10 selected products for 10/$20, mix and match, and save an additional $5.
So the strategy here is to buy exactly 10 of the required items in each category, with as many coupons as possible. View the Albertsons ad HERE.
They also still have the Post cereal special, 5/$10, plus additional $3 off when you buy 5. I still had some coupons to use on the Honey Bunches, and a coupon fairy left one on the shelf for me! (*Tip: always looks for coupons people leave behind).
I was happy to see that the Schepps milk is still $3, a really great price for brand name milk.
They also had Huggies diapers on sale through yesterday, and I used a $2 coupon. I was disappointed that all they had left were the premium in the size I needed, but it was still a good price after the sale and coupon at 22 cents per diaper.

5 boxes Post cereal
5 boxes General Mills cereal
2 gallons Schepps Milk
1 dozen eggs
4 lbs C&H sugar
2 bags Chex Mix
4 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks
2 boxes Betty Crocker Muffin mix
1 box Curves Bars
2 boxes Nature Valley Granola Bars
1 box Totinos Pizza Rolls
1 package Betty Crocker cookie mix
1 Colgate Toothbrush
1 box Huggies Supreme Size 4
1 box Tuna Helper
1 box AuGratin Potatoes
5 bananas (only thing not on sale)
Total before sales and coupons: $117.39 for 32 items!
My total after all coupons and promotions: $42.22
I now have enough cereal to last my family through the rest of 2008. My husband has officially cut me off from buying any more cereal (unless it’s free, of course).
Bonus: this shopping trip gives me 19 Box Tops for my daughter’s school!
Warning: this kind of shopping trip takes a while, so it’s best to leave the kiddos at home.
Notes: While I was shopping, I met a fellow Grocery Gamer. She helped me find the Curves Bars, since she was doing the same deal. This is another thing I love about the Grocery Game. It creates a community of shoppers (usually moms) with a common goal.
I also ran into a friend from church who was buying milk. It is always amusing to see the look on people’s faces when they see my cart full of cereal, my coupons, and my list. She was impressed!
We got to chatting about shopping (this would never happen in WalMart, too crowded) and I nearly fell over when she told me how much she spends each week on groceries for her family of 5. So Sherry, I dedicate this post to you. Hope it will inspire you to clip those coupons, my friend! đ

You did great! The closest Albertsons to me is over an hour away and they don’t double or triple đ Glad you had such an awesome trip!
Oh, bummer. I can walk to my closest Albertsons. But I would love to live in the country like you!
