I returned from beautiful Arkansas on Saturday evening. The last few days I have been recovering from very little sleep and 2 solid days of activity. I was truly wiped out when I got home!
I have so much to tell you about my little adventure. But first things first. I am seriously lagging. A few of you have emailed to ask about my Flip Contest voting. No, you did not miss it.
When my laptop broke, I had no way to access all the entries. Thankfully, hubby solved that for me and I was finally able to retrieve them. My sincerest apologies for the long delay!
Since I had more than 10 favorite entries out of roughly 130, I randomly selected these 10 finalists from my favorites. There were some amazing ideas, and this was no easy task!
Without further delay, here are the 10 finalists (each entry has been edited for length):
- “How to save money while including our children as well (enlisting them to clip coupons, etc.). Not only would it be time spent together but also passing on the valuable information of being good stewards.”
- “Simple, frugal meal plans and a short vlog preparing one or so of them a week (include cost per serving).”
- “Step by step process for new couponers to learn the tricks of the trade! (when to stockpile, where to catch the deals, where to get coupons, etc.).”
- “How to be an Assertive Couponer— It’s ok, you are not stealing. Including: know your store’s coupon policies/how and where to find the policies; Who to ask for the “final” answer on coupons–the store manager/1-800 number? How to get past that nervous feeling.”
- “Making your children’s school lunches with frugal methods such as packaging your own chips/snacks instead of using prepackaged items; reusable cups/bowls with lids instead of baggies; reusable insulated lunch bag.”
- “How recycled items can be used as organizational tools. So instead of buying things to organize, use what you already have–empty cereal boxes, baby food containers, etc. Of course you make them pretty first.”
- “Diaper buying strategies from coupons to sales to ECBs. Do you stick with name brand? How do store brands hold up? Demonstrate what features are worth paying more for.”
- “Vinegar and its frugal uses. (Pet stains, cleaning the microwave, coffee pot, laundry, removing stick residue, etc).”
- “Buying in bulk vs. buying standard sizes— which is the best option? Why a calculator is a handy dandy tool on any shopping trip.”
- “A FREE family fun outing to the library. Books, videos, cd’s, storytime… libraries have so much to offer their community.”
Now I need you to help me pick the winner! Vote once below in the poll. The creator of the idea with the most votes will win a sleek new Flip Video Camera! (To make this fair, if you recognize your entry, please do not request votes on your blog).
Voting will close on Friday, October 18th, at midnight. Good luck to all the finalists!

geez I have no idea how you even narrowed it down.I can’t vote, I think their all really good ideas but I can’t make up my mind between 2 3 or 4!
I voted for #6. I’m all about turning trash to treasure. Of course, some trash SHOULD be tossed… but with a bit of creativity, so many items can be used in place of pricey Target or Container Store items. Sometimes, they’re a lot cuter. For example, Henry David boxes that you get chocolates in. I keep them for all kinds of uses!
How do I view the videos?
Lots of great ideas here! Glad you had a good trip – make sure and relax now!
I can not view them either.
I’m not sure yet either…. I’ll let you know as soon as I make up my mind.
To those of you looking for the video: there isn’t one yet. We are voting for the video we would like to see created. (I hope that made sense.)
