Well clearly, I have been MIA for a couple days. But I had a very good reason. A rare opportunity for a bloggy meet-up in the Big Apple came my way.
I debated back and forth for quite a while about going. After all, I am nearly 6 months pregnant, and have been on partial bed rest due my lovely abdominal hernia.
But opportunities like this don’t come along every day. I am a small town girl who had never seen New York City. I knew I would be kicking myself if I missed out on this experience, not to mention I would get to see several of my dearest bloggy friends.
Surely my friends and family thought I was crazy. Thankfully, my wonderful hubby supported this adventure so off I went with his blessing.
Amazingly, 2 days of relaxing on a plane, in a hotel room, or in the back of a cab resulted in less pain than any 2 days at home parenting. I enjoyed a mini-vacation, of sorts.
I had every intention of somehow tying frugality into my little adventure to share with my dear readers, but very little is frugal in New York City.
Instead, I will share a few of my favorite photos!
Our hotel was in the heart of Times Square. Since I could not do much walking, I was hoping to spot a nearby CVS, but I settled for the next best thing- Walgreens!

This Walgreens is amazing. It is long and narrow, and right in the middle of everything. It is actually 3 levels! There are escalators between each floor.
Does the beautiful brunette look familiar? That is Tara, aka Deal Seeking Mom in the flesh.
I could not go to all the way New York and miss the Subway. It’s pretty frugal, actually, only $2.00! Talk about a cheap thrill, those things are fast.
And here I am getting out of a NYC taxi. Everything you have ever heard about them is true. Those drivers are crazy!

It was a wonderful little getaway and I am so glad I went. There is nothing quite like seeing blogging friends in person. You can only know a blogger so well from your laptop. But seeing their faces, hearing their voices, laughing and bonding… it was blissful!
Blogging can open up a whole new world of friendships. If you ever get the opportunity to meet some in person… don’t hesitate.
I plan to get back to my normal blogging schedule tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed my little recap!

It was so wonderful to meet you IRL and I already can’t wait for the next time. You have such a wonderful heart and when you talk, it gives me this inspirational feeling.
MWAH!

You, my dear, are one amazing woman. I am so honored to call you my friend, and enjoyed every minute we spent together in NYC!!
Let’s do it again soon. 🙂
Love you!!
I already miss you… It was so much fun to hang out with you, can’t wait to see you again. Thank you for coming, with Hernie and all, it wouldn’t have been the same without you. Luv you 🙂
This looks and sounds like you had a fabulously wonderful time!
I’ve never had the opportunity to meet a bloggy friend in real life. However, I still hold out the hope for someday…
I’m glad you all had this time together!
So glad you had a good time!
A-ha! Now I know where Tara was — we invited her out with us in Ohio! I guess I’d pick NYC, too!
😉
That sounds like gobs of fun! I am glad you had the chance to get away and hang out with your blogging buddies. Great opportunity and I am so glad you had a chance to rest. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
It sounds like you had a great time! If you go to NYC again and know ahead of time, there are actually TONS of frugal and free things to be in NYC. You just have to know where to look for them.
How fun for you! Maybe I’ll bet there one day too.
