Welcome, my fellow CVS fanatics and newbies! It’s Sunday, time for our weekly CVS $5 Challenge. The place to go for simple CVS scenarios with step-by-step instructions.

Last week’s challenge was another success! Thank you to all who participated.

This week is perfect for newbies to start CVSing with very little OOP. I see so many scenarios, it was hard to choose just one! Thank goodness for all the weekly participants who help spread the love!

You can now grab a clickable CVS $5 Challenge Button for your post or blog.

If you are a first time visitor, here’s the lowdown:

Join me on Sundays as I host The $5.00 CVS Challenge!

Seasoned CVSers: share your best scenario(s) for the upcoming week at CVS.

Your budget: $5.00 out-of-pocket cash.

Your mission: to grow that $5.00 into even more ECBs to use in upcoming weeks.

Simply post your scenarios on your blog, then drop by Keeping the Kingdom First and add your permalink to the Mr. Linky box below.

Please link directly to your post, not your homepage. It would be lovely if you would also link back to The CVS $5 Challenge in your post.

If you have any questions about linking, please feel free to email me!

*RULES* Bloggers: Please make sure at least one scenario is $5 OOP or less

1. Come up with your best scenario/scenarios for the upcoming week at CVS using the current weekly ad, monthly deals, and coupons available. Your budget for Out of Pocket (OOP) expenses on the first transaction is only $5.00 (either cash OOP or ECBs on hand).

2. Using up to (3) scenarios (we don’t want to overwhelm the newbies with too many transactions), offer up your best scenarios to “grow” that $5.00 into more ECBs to use in following weeks.

3. If you want to divide your $5.00 allowance over the three scenarios to make them work, that’s fine!

4. Be sure to list coupons by inserts and/or with links to printables to make it easier for everyone to follow along.

Sorry, I linked to my CVS deals post on accident. I went back and linked to the CVS $5 challenge post. Sorry! This is my first time! Thanks.

That’s true, anonymous, thank you for the warning! I believe adults can actually benefit from taking children’s aspirin. Now I am inclined to Google it! 🙂

Sandra, no problem, I can fix it. Thanks so much for participating!

Great question, Desiree! It stands for out of pocket, or actually money spent.

If you look under Helpful Resources on my blog, there is a link titled “Coupon Lingo for Beginners”. It has explanation for all the abbreviations you may see in the coupon world.

    Thanks for reading!

Today was going to be my first time to try shopping at CVS to take part in the specials, but when I went into CVS today to take part, I didn’t see any of these deals… Does the price on the rack tell you when you will get the ecbs? I was too nervous to do it and then see… plus, there was no excedrin… do they run out of the sale items? I’m confused…

  5. Alyssa @ KeepingTheKingdomFirst says

Hi Bestmom! Not every CVS is diligent about posting the sale price sticker on every deal. Not to worry, these deals are nationwide, and exist in their computer regardless of what the price tag says.

The ECBs should always print immediately with your purchase, at the bottom of your receipt.

And yes, sale items and the best deals do go fast. I recommend shopping early in the week for the best selection.

You can trust the info here, it all comes straight from the CVS ad. Don’t be nervous! You are doing nothing wrong. Let us know if you need more help!

I am new to CVS shopping and looked on their site and was confused because they say your ECBs print out from the computer, so how do use it right away for next item or do you go home and print them out and go back to get the next deal to pay for it??
