Here’s one of my favorites, written in the New Living Translation:
    Ephesians 3:17-20
And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.

  43. HeatherLow says

This is 1 Corinthians (2-ish-7-ish, it’s from the Message)
    Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
    Love doesn’t strut,
    Doesn’t have a swelled head,
    Doesn’t force itself on others,
    Isn’t always “me first,”
    Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
    Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
    Puts up with anything,
    Trusts God always,
    Always looks for the best,
    Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

I’ve got to remember this as a mom and as a wife.

    Song of Songs 8:6-7

Place me like a seal over your heart, or like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, and its jealousy is as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love; neither can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with everything he owned, his offer would be utterly despised.

Well, this verse is a bit out of the ordinary for a favorite verse on love, but here’s mine: Deut. 4:32 “And because He loved thy fathers, therefore He chose their seed after them….” Deut is my favorite book and this passage is the first time in the Bible that God SAYS he loves His people. He always demonstrated His love before this, but this is the first time he says it….He has loved us a long time…before the foundations of the earth even….God bless you too!

My favorite (actually I have a bunch of favorites, but this one is extra special) Bible verse with the word “love” is John 3:16. It’s the foundation of being a Christian and I have a 15 month old baby boy. Reading that verse, since I have had a baby, now has a whole new meaning and really changed how I looked at the sacrifice God made for us. I don’t think I could give up my son. God LOVES us so much…he did and gave the ultimate sacrifice..FOR ALL PEOPLE!!!

One of my FAVORITE verses on love is Song of Songs 3:1-5
All night long on my bed
    I looked for the one my heart loves;
I looked for him but did not find him.

2 I will get up now and go about the city,
    through its streets and squares;
I will search for the one my heart loves.
So I looked for him but did not find him.

    3 The watchmen found me
as they made their rounds in the city.
“Have you seen the one my heart loves?”

4 Scarcely had I passed them
when I found the one my heart loves.
I held him and would not let him go
till I had brought him to my mother’s house,
to the room of the one who conceived me.

Ooh, 1 Cor 13 is a good one, and popular! John 3:16 is also a fav…
2 Tim 1:7 is a good one to teach to kids – “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”
But in the spirit of V-day, here is a passage from Ephesians 5…
25″Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31″For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
