April 4th Frugal Family Fun: Home Depot & Michaels

Need something to do on a lovely Spring Saturday? This weekend there are not one, but two free events for kiddos!

Home Depot: On the first Saturday of every month, your kids can enjoy a FREE “How-to” Clinic for ages 5-12. Simply show up between 9am and noon for some frugal family fun.

This Saturday, they will be making a Window Birdhouse! Take it home, and let them decorate it for more frugal fun.

Michaels: This Saturday, Crayola and HP are hosting “The Knack” FREE Family Event, from 10am-2pm. From their website-

Let your imagination take you out of this world! Come join us for a 3D experience (3D glasses provided) and treasure hunt. Make your own 3D mini poster, “far out” finger puppet, AND Monsters vs. AliensTM coloring pages for FREE! Ages 5–12 welcome.

Find your nearest Michaels location here.

Taking advantage of events like this is a great way to stretch your family entertainment budget. My children love doing special projects like the ones above. I’ll take these over Chuck E Cheese any day!

Speaking of Frugal Family Fun, Denise and I will be covering this very topic this week on Keeping It Centsible! Tune in this Thursday night at 7pm CST for our weekly live podcast.

This is going to be a FUN FUN weekend for my son!! In our area our local YMCA is having a free(donation suggested of $5) morning with the easter bunny with breakfast, pictures, and egg hunts!! I think we have a home depot about 25 minutes away as well as the Micheals but that would be a trip worth it with both things close to each other!! thanks alyssa as always!

Lowe’s has a kids program similar to Home Depot on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 AM. My kids loved to do this when they were younger.
