Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, is a mere 8 days away! Perhaps it is all the baby preparations, but it really snuck up on me this year.
I thought it would be fun for readers to share their favorite frugal ways to make Easter special. Tomorrow evening, I will post a Mr. Linky and open the meme. Bloggers can drop their links to their very own Frugal Easter Eggstravaganza posts all week long!
One lucky participant will be randomly selected to win a $25.00 Walmart Gift Card!
I do realize that many Christians celebrate Easter in different ways. Perhaps bunnies and eggs are not a part of your traditions. That’s ok! I invite everyone to share how they celebrate or acknowledge the Resurrection of our Savior.

Come back tomorrow evening and let the fun begin!

HI!! I just found your blog. I am trying to learn how to do this “CVS Thing” and save more money. I am starting a Penny Pinching Parade on April 14 with the launch and giveaways. I would love it if you would join my parade and do a getting started with CVS tutorial. And then come back week after week with your greatest tips. I love what you are doing here. Hopefully it will get us both some extra blog traffic. Hope to hear from you. Come check my blog out.
OH–I will be back tomorrow to join in with my tips!!
oh my goodness – that is too funny because all this week I have been posting Easter tradition ideas and one of them was titled – Easter eggstravaganza. Family frugal minds think alike. 🙂
I stock up on Easter decorations when they are 75-90% off after Easter is over! I have several bags of plastic eggs, an egg decorating kit, and art supplies for this year.
I don’t have any kids of my own, but here are some deals I got for my “kids” at school. I love your blog!
I found the following alternatives to using the store bought dyes for Easter eggs.
Red – Boil two medium beets until soft. Peel and chop into half inch cubes. Cover with one cup boiling water and 1 tsp vinegar. Steep and Drain.
Orange – Save dry onion skins. Cover with 1 1/2 cups water, boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat, steep until water is deep orange-brown color. Add 1 tsp vinegar.
Yellow – Mix 2 heaping teaspoons turmeric, 2/3 cup boiling water and 1/2 tsp vinegar – or – purchase saffron; pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dry particles, steep 10 minutes, drain.
Blue – Add 1 tsp vinegar to 1 cup blueberry or grape juice. Eggs turn a pretty bluish-lavender color.
Purple – Mix red and blue colors (from above) together in a bowl and then dip eggs.
Brown – Use two tea bags to each cup of boiling water.
Our family plays a fun game with our hard boiled eggs before we eat them. It is a game my husband learned while living in Romania. Each person chooses an egg and you take turns tapping your eggs together (use the ends of the eggs, not the middles). Before you hit your eggs, each time one person says “Christ is Risen” and the second says “It is true, Christ is risen.” (We say it in Romanian but I wouldn’t be able to come close to spelling it right. 🙂 )
Only one egg will break, but you can use both ends of the egg. You keep going until one egg is left. It is a great free game using eggs that most people will have because of the egg dying tradition.
Hi. Well we dye eggs together as a family. We attend church and have Easter dinner as our family traditions.
