Give More: 140 Smiles

I often post about ways to save money, but I also believe giving is just as, if not more important. I recently learned about 140 Smiles, a movement under Operation Smile.

This unique organization is harnessing the power of social media to transform children’s lives. As you may know, Twitter updates are 140 characters or less. The 140 Smiles campaign is raising funds to provide 140 surgeries to children around the world through the power of Twitter!

About Operation Smile:

“Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a worldwide children’s medical charity whose network of global volunteers are dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults. Since its founding, Operation Smile volunteers have treated more than 130,000 children born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities and the organization has a presence in 51 countries. In addition to contributing free medical treatment, Operation Smile trains local medical professionals in its partner countries and leaves behind crucial equipment to lay the groundwork for long-term self-sufficiency.”

I was inspired to start my own “Smile Team” to encourage my friends and followers to give to this worthy cause.

If you are so lead, please consider making a donation- no amount is too small. One surgery costs just $240, and will truly transform a child’s life. Imagine if all of my readers gave even just $1.00!

To get involved:

  • Visit 140 Smiles. Log in to your twitter account directly on the site (optional).
  • Enter “KingdomFirstMom” under Twitter Team Name on the donation form.
  • Donate any amount, and pay with a credit/debit card or by bank account withdrawal through their secure site.
  • Spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, etc. and encourage others to give.
  • Help change a life and create a new smile for a deserving child!

Check back to see how many smiles Team KingdomFirstMom has created! The campaign ends when the total amount needed is raised.

Thank you for considering this awesome opportunity to “Keep the Kingdom First”.
