Welcome, my fellow Walgreens fans! I am thrilled to launch the all new Walgreens $5 Challenge. We only had a few participants last week, so I am hoping more bloggers jump in and accept the challenge.
Walgreens is a bit different than CVS, so it may be a bigger challenge to obtain a low OOP (out of pocket). I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with in their scenarios!
If you are a first time visitor, here’s the lowdown:
Join me each week as I host The Walgreens $5 Challenge!
Seasoned WAGS shoppers: share your best scenario(s) for the upcoming week at Walgreens.
Your budget: $5.00 out-of-pocket cash.
Your mission: to grow that $5.00 into more Register Rewards (RR) to use in upcoming weeks.
*RULES* Bloggers: Please make sure at least one scenario is $5 OOP or less
1. Come up with your best scenario/scenarios for the upcoming week at Walgreens using the current weekly ad, monthly deals, and coupons available. Your budget for Out of Pocket (OOP) expenses on the first transaction is only $5.00 (either cash OOP or RRs on hand).
2. Using up to (3) scenarios (we don’t want to overwhelm the newbies with too many transactions), offer up your best scenarios to “grow” that $5.00 into more RRs to use in following weeks.
3. If you want to divide your $5.00 allowance over the 3 scenarios to make them work, that’s fine!
Here is MY $5 Scenario for the week of July 19th:

There you have it! A way to play the WAGS game by helping newbies learn the ropes. And who knows – you just might be inspired yourself by some of the deals you find, too!
Simply post your scenarios on your blog, then drop by Keeping the Kingdom First and add your permalink to the new Mcklinky box below.
Please link directly to your scenarios. Links directly to your homepage will be deleted. Linking back to this meme to share it with others is greatly appreciated!
Don’t have a blog? You can leave a comment with your scenario, too. I invite everyone to participate.

Your transaction 2 is going to need some cheap filler item. The RR you pay with counts as a coupon and you have the other coupon. You cannot have more coupons than items – that is why Walgreens is a pain. I would add in a $0.19 highlighter.
Oh my goodness, Lynn, you are so right! Sorry, I have been doing CVS for so long I forgot the little Walgreens quirks. Thanks for the reminder! And the highlighter is perfect! 🙂

Now I have a huge problem, no register rewards printed for the excedrin, pilot pen, cereal, or Glade S&S. I am trying to resolve this problem with Counsumer Relations, and get there coupon guidelines, they are telling me that if you use MAF coupons then you will not receive RR. HELP IF YOU CAN SO I KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS!
@cherylvelda – rumor has it you can contact the Catalina company (the company who runs the printers that print out the RRs) and let them know that you didn’t receive your RRs from Walgreens. They should be able to look at your transaction(s) and know if the machine was broken, out of paper, etc. To be honest, I’ve never contacted them myself, but have read numerous bloggers’ reports of the company being very helpful in that regard. Worth a shot, right? (Their website is catalinamarketing.com and you can use the “Contact Us” link at top) Oh, and it’s totally not true that using a manu. coupon will prevent an RR from printing – at least I’ve never experienced it, nor have I heard of anyone else either! Best of luck!
