Throw it Back…

Occasionally during a Sunday sermon, my Pastor will mention something that strikes me with an instant desire to share it with my readers. Yesterday was one of those days…

He often manages to weave sports into his message, always tying it back to scripture. Of course, my husband appreciates this angle. Yesterday, it was baseball. We watched this clip during the service:

Obviously it is a sweet, genuine moment between father and daughter. But watch closely. That little white ball, which is so coveted by eager baseball fans, represents the desires of this world.

But people who keep the Kingdom first, they throw it back. That ball could be any number of things… fame, fortune, shopping, your job, alcohol, drugs, gambling, or even television. Things that seem so important to society, but not to a 3 year old.

Don’t hold on to that ball in your life. Throw it back, and accept the embrace of your loving Heavenly Father.

I love this clip and what a great reminder about what really matters (and what doesn’t) … this man was such a neat example of a loving heart …and it touched so many people. These are the little things in our world that make us STOP and think (when we are sidetracking putting our time and attention on the little white balls.) What a great post. Have a blessed day!! KL
