You know how stores want you to believe that babies require 87 bazillion products when you go to register? And you know how most of those products turn out to be a complete waste of money?
Well, the Bumbo Seat is not one of those products. I don’t know how I survived the babyhood of my first two children without it!
Now 5 months old, Colin loves to chill in his Bumbo. Totally worth the 40 bucks. Although I am sure you can find one for half that price at a local resale shop.
And since they are virtually indestructible (as proven by his older sisters), you can sell a Bumbo when you are through with it, or pass it along to a friend.
And that works for me!
*Full Disclosure: This post was not, in any way, sponsored by Bumbo.

Oh, what a cutie!

I know!!! I love mine. When I had my second child, I knew I needed to find something to keep her sitting up b/c she loved it so much. I bought a bumbo at a resale shop for $25, and now use it with my 3rd child. In recommendation to other new moms, I always suggest a bumbo as a non-negotiable. So wonderful.
Oh my goodness!! What a cutie! I don’t need the bumbo, but I’ll take that baby anytime!! 🙂
I agree!!! I didnt know about Bumbos when my 5 year old was a baby or they werent out yet, not sure, but i got one when i found out i was pregnant with our son and im so glad i got it!!! He’s 10 months now and quite the monkey so a friend bought it off me for her little one!! It still looks like its brand new and its been beat up, tossed around etc etc!!

After all the hype, I tried the Bumbo with #4. Either she was too skinny or too wiggly, but it didn’t work out well for us AT ALL. She kept squiggling right out of it, getting herself in weird positions. I was really glad I had borrowed it from a friend and not spent money on it. I would not call this a necessity. She did much better in the exersaucer that we already had.
One plus– if your kid are pukers like mine (all 4 of my girls spit up A LOT), you don’t have to worry about cleaning–it wipes right up! Just make sure you have it sitting on a cleanable surface and not the carpet. 🙂 (put a blanket down)

gotta LOVE those bumbos! cute shot, too 🙂

Jessica, you are so right about the clean up factor! And Colin is a puker, so I have learned this the hard way.
I guess it does depend on the shape of your little one as to whether it is a good fit. Great idea to borrow one from a friend before investing in it!
Thankfully, Colin fits just right. 🙂
Amen! My little James is 6 months old and likes his Bumbo a lot. He likes it because he is closer to the action than when he is in the Exersaucer. Just yesterday we were outside and he loved playing with his little feet in the grass while in the Bumbo. But, he does know how to flip himself out of it so I NEVER leave him alone in it and I NEVER put it up on a surface that is above ground level.

I absolutely LOVE our Bumbo too! I think one advantage over the exersaucer is that you are able to use it a little earlier; as soon as your little one can hold his/her head up.
We have a Step 2 wagon with the tag-along trailer and while my older 2 girls ride in the wagon, the Bumbo fits perfectly in the trailer for the baby. (And she hasn’t figured out how to wiggle out of it.) It’s absolutely adorable when we go for walks!
I was so excited to get a Bumbo for a gift. I never got to use it because my baby was too fat 🙂 Maybe the next baby will get to use it.
You little one is very cute!

I had one for our two boys and have bought one for every new mom I know! I think it’s the BEST new baby invention in 20 years!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

I think Bumboo’s are cute and if it were in the budget, would love to try it with our new baby.
But was surprised (since I’ve never heard anything negative about them) to see the government has them on their list of items to not be resold.

The part about Bumbo

Sometimes I am stunned at people who expect to have their whole world “fixed” so they never get hurt and refuse to be observant or responsible for themselves.
And I would STILL love to try out the Bumbo, but it is not on my list of Must Have Items. We live in such a small space that I’ve barely got room for clothes, diapers, and a pack n play – which comes with a changing table.
Enjoying your blog!

Bumbos are great! I bought one used with a tray for half the price and use it for everything. It also works as a mini high chair when my son goes to his grandma’s.
I agree, my son loved his Bumbo seat and it always positioned him perfectly for pictures. I actually found one at my local Goodwill, still in the box, for only $14. Now, I’m debating on whether or not to sell it or keep it…

I bought one for full price for our 2 month old and she loves it! I was online and saw them on eBay for $9! A little disappointing, but I’m sure we can get some money back if I decide to eventually sell it.

I love ours as well, although it seems I used it more with my first born than with the 2nd child
My daughter and son both LOVED the bumbo…totally worth every penny 🙂

We love the Bumbo. When got one second-hand after my daughter was born, and she used it all the time. Looking forward to using it for my son when he gets a little older too.

I bought the Bumbo seat AND tray for my 2nd baby, but DS was too chunky! He never got to use it because he would get STUCK in the chair! Ha ha ha! I’m not kidding either! The pricey chair/tray set is still sitting in the bottom of his closet- IN the box.
I really loved my bumbo as well. I needed something to help him sit up and to put him in while I did my household chores. This worked great! I used it in the bathroom when I needed to take a shower (until I realized he can climb out of it and climb in the tub). I used it in the kitchen while I cooked dinner. It was great.

These look really cool! I’ve seen a few posts about them.
Colin’s so cute! He looks like you alot!
What an adorable pic! We use our bumbo alot in the bath with his big sis (with me sitting by the tub, of course.) It works great and my little boy (and big sis) think it’s lots of fun!
I just saw a bumbo seat for the first time this weekend I wish they had these 12 years ago when my daughter was a baby. Oh lets be honest I wish they had adult ones, they look so comfy lol and they feel cool.

LOL! Tasha, I agree. I want an adult-sized bumbo!
I have the tray with mine and love it even more.
Yes! I love the Bumbo! I bought one off of Craigslist with the attached tray for $25. So worth every penny. My son loves it!
