I thought you could not use a RR to purchase an item that would also net you an RR because they cancel each other out? That is how it is at my Walgreen’s at any rate. Can you please advise?

    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,
Actually, you can use an RR to purchase a different item and still receive RRs. You just can’t “roll” them on the same item over and over, like you can at CVS.

The scenario above should work, since each item is a different promotion. Hope that helps! 🙂

  3. says

Great! Thanks for the clarification. I tend to avoid Walgreens b/c they are not as flexible as CVS but with your suggestions and scenarios I will give it a go.

My Wags says if you use a coupon on an item with a rr you will not receive the rr (and it proved to be true)…So I’ve stopped going to Wags!! O’well

I’ve had some issues in the past with RRs not printing, and one of my blog readers filled me in with a tip she learned from a Wags manager who had a couponing wife!

Apparently, RRs don’t print if you use a RR that you got from an item that is made by the same manufacturer. So, you can keep using coupons and rolling your RRs, just be careful that you’re not using an RR from the same manfctr.

Help! I tried Walgreens for the first time yesterday. The cashier would not let me use man coupons on anything that would print a RR. Then the RRs didn’t print for anything and she says I have to go back later to pick them up?!?! Now I’m hearing on another post that you can only use 1 RR to pay on each visit. Can you comment on this?

  7. Jennifer Laxson says

Kristi…It is very possiable I used a RR from the Tylenol I bought last week on the Benadryl that I didn’t earn the RR on…I never thought of that…But why are some people hearing from Corporate that if you use a man. coupon you will not receive a RR??

  8. Jennifer Laxson says

Yup…I did use the RR from the Tylenol…So maybe that’s why it didn’t print? The manager told me to come back in and he’d give me the RR that didn’t print…So that’s nice of him.

  9. Alyssa Francis says

Jennifer, I am so glad you figured it out! It is hard when you don’t know if the manufacturer might be the same on different products.

Elizabeth- Sounds like your cashier is very misinformed or poorly trained. You CAN use coupons on items that will produce RR’s, the computer will still print it.

I have used more than one RR in a transaction without any issues. 🙁

Walgreens can be frustrating, because management is often confused themselves about RRs. I suggest trying a different cashier, speaking to the manager, or just going to a different store altogether.

  10. says

Alyssa – totally agree about trying a different store. I consistently had problems at the store closest to me, the employees were poorly trained and rude, and the managers were unhelpful and uncourteous!! frustrating!

I started going to a different store and it’s night and day. The employees are so nice much more informed. They have signage in the store about register reward deals, and the employees sometimes even fill me in on unadvertised items that print register rewards!
