30-day giving challenge

Day 2 is coming to a close, and thankfully my site is back up and functioning better than ever! Only 2 days into the Challenge, and I am already hearing wonderful stories and reports of people opening their hearts and giving.

Check out the wall on the Facebook event page to read comments and ideas. Can you believe we have over 400 people participating? WOW! You can still RSVP as blogger on the Day 1 Mr. Linky as well. There are nearly 60 bloggers participating so far!

Just thinking about how many thousands of readers this has the potential to reach is rather mind-boggling. I love how the internet can be used as a tool for ministry, don’t you?

You can also follow along with the hashtag #30dayGC on Twitter to see how others are giving throughout the month.

I do want to mention that it is never too late to jump on board. The challenge will continue through the end of November, and each day is another opportunity to “get your giving on”!

There is no requirement to share each act of giving on your blog. I do encourage you write it down in a journal, to hold yourself accountable. Be sure to write down the blessings you see come back to you as well!

I realized today that this challenge has brought many new eyes to this blog. Not expected, but I am thankful for this. In a way, this traffic increase is a blessing I can record in my journal. A portion of the revenue this blog generates is donated to various charities I support. The more visitors I receive, the more I am ultimately able to give.

But I also realized that these new eyes may not know the power of a coupon. Many families are struggling right now, and may be finding it difficult to give at all. So I want to demonstrate how coupons can actually allow you to give more, with little to no money spent.

I made a trip to my local Walgreens today to pick up these canned food items:

Total spent= zero dollars

Total spent= zero dollars

Here is how I did it:

Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 8 oz – buy 3/$1.00 with in-ad coupon
Use $1.00/3 printable coupon (play the game to get it)
FREE after coupon!

Campbell’s Tomato Soup – on sale for 50¢ each
Use $1.00/2 printable coupon (hit the back button on your browser to print 1 more)
FREE after coupon!

Thanks, Surviving the Stores, for this scenario!

Any food pantry will gladly accept these items, which only cost a few minutes of my time.

Perhaps you are already a seasoned couponer who knows the ins and outs of saving big. You can use your knowledge and experience to teach someone the wonderful ways of couponing. I am sure it would bless them, and it won’t cost you a dime!

I leave you with this verse…

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

I have to admit that I forgot about the challenge BUT I still had the opportunity to give something. I work part time at Chick-fil-A and last night I worked and one of the employees went on break and went to my register to order his meal. After he ordered he was really embarassed because he realized that he did not have any money. He was going to walk away with nothing to eat when I told him to wait and I pulled the money out of my pocket and paid for his meal. He was very grateful and I felt good about helping someone!!
