30-day giving challenge

Week 4. The home stretch. And the busiest week of the month!

There are 2 ways to look at it:
1. This is the hardest week to keep giving due to family obligations, traveling, etc.
2. This is the best week to keep giving since we are reflecting on all that we are thankful for, and there are so many out there in need.

Holiday food drives are in full swing, and the bell ringers with those red buckets are ringing those bells with a vengeance. Angel Trees have started to go up around town. The opportunities are there, just keep your heart and your eyes open.

Since most of us will be gorging enjoying a wonderful (and hopefully frugal) feast on Thursday, it is the perfect time to bring awareness to a very real issue in our world- hunger.

  • Have you considered volunteering at a Soup Kitchen?
  • Did you know that just $5 can provide 35 meals to hungry families? Join Lori or Christine in their Virtual Food Drives through Feeding America.
  • Take a few minutes to read this newly released report by Share our Strength about hunger in America’s classrooms.
  • Need some great new recipes? Purchase the e-book of your choice via the Virtual Great American Bakesale for the donation amount of your choosing. All proceeds benefit Share Our Strength’s quest to end childhood hunger.
  • Do you have a heart for single mothers? Perhaps you could help a family through Gleaning the Harvest.

What other opportunities can you share that help fight hunger?

Take a moment to enter Amber’s unique giveaway. The prize is a donation to the charity of your choice!

I think the holiday season does make it easy to give your time or money. Many non-profits could use the manpower. If you’re able to give money many have online options.

Thank you so very much for mentioning Gleaning the Harvest. We rely on giving and word of mouth, and to be mentioned here is a great big deal for the families we support! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

      Jacque-
I am so thrilled to be able to help spread the word about GTH! I am a former single mother myself, so I know how much the families must appreciate the support.
