*Update: Congratulations to commenter #115, Alex! I have emailed you for your shipping info.

With less than 2 weeks until the start of my biggest challenge yet- reading through the Bible in 90 Days– I am thrilled to offer a giveaway of the following:

:: (1) Bible in 90 Days Bible (NIV translation)
:: (1) Bible in 90 Days Participant’s Guide

One lucky reader will receive the materials above in time to start the challenge on January 1st. There is still time to order the books as well.

Some readers mentioned that they would like to participate, but prefer a different translation. That is completely understandable! Thankfully, our leader Amy has provided a reading schedule and tips for completing the challenge with your own Bible.

Download the reading schedule

Like I said, yes, you can read a different Bible. And if you choose to do that, I still would love to help you accomplish that goal. Feel free to download and print this handy bookmark reading schedule and check off the days as you read. The bookmark lists page numbers for the plan Bible and scripture start and stop points you can use with any Bible.

There is also an optional one hour twitter chat tonight, December 21st, from 9-10pm CST. Details here.

For a chance to win:

1. Leave a comment below:  Have you ever read the Bible cover to cover? How did it go?

If you are reading via email or in a reader, please click through to the post to enter.

For Bonus Entries (leave a separate comment for each):

2. If you are a subscriber or follower (thank you!), leave a comment. You may subscribe for free updates via RSS or email and leave a comment telling me you have done so.

3. For a third entry, share this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter.

This contest will close on Wednesday, December 23rd at 11pm CST. The winner will be selected by random.org and contacted via email. Contest open to US residents only.

Good luck, and thank you for entering!

Disclosure: I received the materials above to participate in the challenge.

I’ve read the bible thru once – I did it last year, starting 1/1/08. I used crosswalk.org and bookmarked their page for the daily reading and their system took me automatically to where I needed to read every morning. I started it again this year, but had some internet problems which made the computer system frustrating, so I bought The MacArthur Daily Bible which I am currently reading (although I must admit that it’s going slower this year). Reading the Bible in 90 days sounds like a huge challenge and I would love to get the Bible and Participant’s Guide.

  2. says

I have never read the Bible cover to cover, but I have resolved to SO many times. Maybe this challenge is the push I need to actually do it!

  3. Deanna says

I have never finished reading cover to cover. I have started several times… just don’t stick with it. Would love to try this challenge.

  4. Amy Scott says

I’ve read through the bible several years ago and I can’t remember exactly how long it took, but I know it was at least a year. I have let my bible study fall by the wayside, so I need to get back into it and am going to take the challenge.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. Wendy Cameron says

I did get one of the One Year Bibles and did it a few years ago. That was when I only had one or two kids…now I have 4 under 6. It was really hard for me to stick with the Experiencing God study my church just did, but I did complete 8 weeks out of the 12 and still attended even when I didn’t do the material. I don’t always read my Bible, but I sure pray alot these days!

  6. says

I read through the Bible one year in Bible College. To tell you the truth it was a lot harder than I though it would be but so rewarding!

I wanted to ask you about you being a Lifetime Mom’s affiliate. First off, congratulations for that! Secondly, I was wondering how to go about applying. 21. Jodie says

i read the entire bible out loud to my daughter as i was nursing her from birth to age three months. it probably did average out to an hour a day of seated quiet time, as i wasn’t able to read every time i nursed, but i did much of the time. i am just about through my second trip, only have revelation to go.

  22. says

I have read it through 3 times. Once each year for the last 3 years. I had started it again this year, but got side tracked when I started blogging. I will get back into reading it after the of the year.

I have not read the entire bible through, but this is something my husband and I have really wanted to do together. Due to his work schedule we have not been able to commit to the class at our church so, this opportunity to read the bible through at home we are so excited about!!!

  30. Betsy says

Three years ago our pastor challenged the whole church to read through the bible in a year. It changed my life. Since then, I read all the way through one year and read through just the New Testament the next year. This year I read the Chronological Bible and that was a totally different experience. I love our pastor’s directive: “You cannot know the will of God or the way of God unless you know the WORD of God.” I also remind friends that, unless you have read the bible yourself, you are using someone else’s interpretation of what the word says. If by some chance I’m randomly picked, I’ll give this to someone else–just wanted to encourage all to dig in and read the greatest book ever!!

  31. Cyndi says

I have never read the bible cover to cover. I’ve started, but never seemed to get through it….

  33. Heather H says

Yes I have read the entire Bible, The One Year Bible! It is awesome because it puts everything in order chronologically so you can follow it more like a story book! God is great!

  34. says

I haven’t actually read the entire bible in chronological order, but I have read the entire Bible by reading and skipping around the Bible over a period of time. I think this would be a wonderful challenge to fulfill.

  39. Amanda says

I have not read the entire bible YET! I am almost through the New Testiment and, even though I’ve been a Christian since childhood, my life has never felt more secure. It is truely our guide for living a life full of love for others, but mostly for our Saviour!

  42. Cindy says

I’m almost through with my through-the-Bible-in-a-year plan. Just until the end of the month, and a few days beyond that. I’ve set out to do it before, but for one reason or another, always given up and just started randomly reading again. This time, Lord willing, I will actually be able to say that I’ve read the Bible cover-to-cover, no skipping. Even Leviticus, which may be the dryest thing I’ve ever read. Lots to find, even in there, though!

I would love to try doing it in 90 days!

I have started to read the Bible through in a year in September, made it to Judges and I’m not sure what happened. I want to be in the Word more and I think this challenge and resource are going to be awesome! Thanks for the challenge!

  44. Psalm says

I’ve tried, but never completed reading the Bible cover to cover. I’m excited to try as I haven’t been able to really read in a few years as reading triggers my seizures. So, I’m praying that the Lord will allow me to get through without seizures!!!

  45. Angel S. says

I would love to win this! I am almost done reading through the Bible – only a few more days left this year. This year was the first time I have made it all the way through, reading everyday, not getting ehind and catching up. It has been wonderful. So many times my reading was exactly what I needed to hear that very day!

  46. Stacy says

I”ve read large chunks of the Bible, but I’m sorry to say I’ve never read it cover to cover. I may make that my resolution this year.

  47. Erin @ Closing Time says

  53. Kelly Pitt says

No, I have not read the entire Bible. I make it all the way through the New Testament, but then I bog down in the Old Testament! I want to though!

  54. Kimberly says

I tried to read the entire Bible several years ago….started in October reading the Gospel (according to the one year schedule I had), then kept going with the Old Testament in Jan….petered out around April! I know, 6 months in! The 90 days would be perfect for me!

  55. Sheri says

Although I took a “Through the Bible” class, I still did not successfully read the Bible from cover to cover.

  56. Jenn says

I’ve never “read” the Bible cover to cover. However, I’ve listened to the entire Bible through audio books & the Daily Audio Bible podcast several times. I found this to be much easier since you can listen while you’re folding laundry or whatever else you need to do. I’ve read the whole New Testament several times, read all of Proverbs usually once a month, and read through Genesis at least once a year (one of my favorite books!). I haven’t read or listened, though, since my daughter was born nearly 5 months ago…it’s time to get back into the swing of things!

To Carolyn #24 if you see this…I hope reading with your daughter goes well. I used to mentor teenage girls and support and encouragement and accountability from their parents is hugely important in their walk with the Lord. I’ll be praying for you two and am excited for you! I can’t wait until my daughter and I can read the Bible together (right now all she wants to do is eat it, haha!).

  57. Trisha says

I have read the Bible cover to cover but it’s been ages. I have tried the last several years but get stopped around summer time when my schedule picks up alot. I have another friend committed to do this with me.

I have read the bible cover to cover when I was a kid. Unfortunately, it did not make a lot of sense to me at the time, as it was an old world translation! Sure, I got the basics down, but this would be great as a nice refresher!

  89. cheryl says

I went to an elementary parochial school & we did it one yr. I can honestly say that I didn’t get much out of it (which is kinda sad). It was more of a rote class without any discussion of meaning or how we saw it (7th graders)…just this is the way it was/is & you are not allowed to question the Bible.
Since then DH & I have tried to read the New Testament but life somehow gets in the way.

  90. cheryl says

I’m a subscriber too & I plan on sharing the idea of reading the bible in 90 days with DH.
