Secrets of the Mountain: Family Movie Night (Giveaway) Now Closed

Family movie night at home is a fun and frugal method of entertainment.  But when was the last time you actually enjoyed a quality family movie on network television?

Sure, you could run to the nearest Redbox or rely on Netflix, but it would be nice to know that on a Friday night you can simply turn on the TV to enjoy a quality movie with the whole family. Walmart and P&G have teamed up to fill this need for a family-friendly made-for-TV movie. Yes, you read that right. Walmart is now in the movie business. Their first production airs this Friday night, April 16th on NBC at 8/7 central.

Secrets of the Mountain is all about bringing back family movie night.  Although I have not yet seen the film in its entirety, several of my fellow Walmart Moms recently screened a sneak peek and were pleasantly surprised by the action-packed, wholesome storyline.

Check out this quick trailer and hear what a few of the moms had to say about it:

Grab your popcorn and the whole family for some frugal fun this Friday night. You can also win a bundle pack of the movie and soundtrack (produced by Randy Jackson) right here!

I would have to say ice cream is my favorite thing to eat while watching a movie!

  8. Jody says

Our favorite family movie snack is popcorn & peanuts drizzled with vanilla almond bark. Sweet and salty at the same time! yumm.

  9. Tami says

Kettle Corn is a favorite for us, although we just bought a bunch of Pirates Booty from Coscto so will probably snack on that for a while!

  10. Katie says

We like to have fruit or popcorn while watching a movie. It’s a tradition from our time in Cambodia.

  11. Amy Tirre says

If I know we are going to have a movie night a little in advance I will make Peanut Butter Banana Pops. After peeling and slicing the banana down the center I make a “sandwich” using peanut butter. My daughter also likes to add chocolate chips or jelly to hers. Place the popcicle stick in between the two halves then freeze. A Quite and yummy snack that won’t leave grease stains on the couch.
I am a subsrciber to your newsletter…thankyou for all you do.

  12. Karina House says

My favorite snack is Muddy Buddies made with rice Chex. For my peanut-butter-allergic son, it’s popcorn all the way.

Usually, movie night involves pizza on paper plates on the living room floor! It’s just not the same if you “sit” on the couch (lol).

  15. Michele says

One of my ultimate movie snacks is a LARGE plate of Doritos covered w/ taco sauce and LOTS of shredded cheese, pop it in the microwave to melt the cheese…
….it play and gather round the plate…DELICIOUS!!!! not figure friendly but definitely worth it 🙂

Still a relatively new reader, but I sure appreciate all you do and how hard you work to help us be good stewards of all that is entrusted to us by Him. Thank you! A movie isn’t a movie without popcorn, is it? Crystal Light is a great choice to wash it down (no caffeine or few calories).

I like to eat cheerios with a few chocolate chips. Just enough chocolate for my sweet tooth.

  29. MO says

When we have family movie night, we move the dining table into the family room and have dinner & a movie night!

  30. rachella says

My family just loves the traditional popcorn. However after microwaving it, I add melted “real” butter on it! Tastes even better than move theater popcorn. We enjoy this with soda.
