Testing the Dyson Digital Slim

A funny thing happened the other day. I noticed my broom hanging on its laundry room hook. It suddenly occurred to me that my poor broom has sat unused on that hook for over a month. No, actually my floors are not covered with cat hair, dirt, crumbs and various messes. In fact, they look cleaner than ever thanks to my new favorite gadget.

I introduced you to the Dyson Digital Slim last month and have since been putting it to the test in every way possible. The folks at Dyson challenged me to find as many ways possible to use the powerful stick vac. Weighing only 5 pounds, this puppy can go many places your “big” vacuum cannot.

Since the attachments and 26 inch long wand allow it to be configured in several different ways, my new Dyson has been all over every nook and cranny in my house and even my car. There wasn’t a place not to use it, in fact. The long wand reaches those hard to get to spots like cobwebs in corners, ceiling fans and light fixtures. Stairs are a breeze and baseboards – no problem! It can easily go under furniture, snatching up dust bunnies and wandering Barbie shoes in an instant.

The best part? My kids can use it quite easily. Far easier to maneuver than a broom, and more effective to boot = less work for mom!

As a result, my broom sits lonely and useless. Even my big vacuum sits idle most days. The Dyson Digital Slim can potentially replace a stick vac, hand held, and traditional vacuum in a smaller home. For that reason, I can wholeheartedly recommend it as a worthy investment. I am a Dyson skeptic no longer.

The $299 price tag is steep, no doubt, but I am confident this will bring me many years of use. My other gadgets have typically failed me in 2-3 years.

The only other drawback I noticed (aside from the price) is the lack of an on/off switch. The Digital Slim is powered by a constant “trigger”, which could be a deterrent for those with arthritis or carpal tunnel.

If you are hoping to purchase a Dyson in the near future, I can tell you that they do not often go on sale. Save your Swag Bucks to snag one on Amazon, or go through Shop At Home to earn 3% cash back on your purchase. Or stay tuned for an opportunity to win one right here!

Oh, th is sounds like something that would be perfect in my little apartment. My dad and I have a traditional vacuum, but it’s big and bulky…and no fun when vacuuming the stairs. This looks very nice. I have bursitis in my right shoulder, but even then, this would work nice 😉 ) Th anks for the review 🙂 🙂 Have a great week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather 🙂
