Last Thursday, I received a phone call from my dear friend Alyssa‘s husband, Troy. He wanted to surprise Alyssa with a night out… only with ME as her date!
I was so excited, and when I spoke to Shane about it, he decided to bring Baby M, and all three of us spend Friday night. {Yes, we invited ourselves! We are “frugal” like that!!!}
{Side note: In case you are wondering, A and R spent Friday night with their cousins… it had been planned for weeks, so that is why they did not go to Alyssa’s with us.}
I made a big deal out of my “big date” on Twitter that Friday, and Alyssa took the bait! Ha!
Troy met us outside when we pulled up, grinning from ear-to-ear. {I am still impressed with how he kept the secret from her all day!}
Shane and I hid outside while he went in and made this big deal out of “all of a sudden” not having a babysitter for their kiddos.
He said, “Well, I guess Shane and I will have to watch the kids while you and Amy go out and eat.”
Her face was priceless!
We had a wonderful GNO, and then a nice late evening hanging with Troy {my husband fell asleep while putting M to bed…}. Saturday was also a lovely day spent hanging out and then eating at a gas station.
Last weekend was a blast, a blessing, and definitely a finer thing.
