I LOVE baking and cooking, but I am NO artist! Regardless of my artistic abilities, I decided to make, bake, and decorate my little M’s first birthday cake.
I use this fabulous white cake recipe from The Joy of Baking. I also made the yummy cream cheese icing. I did not include the jelly/jam or strawberries, since I just wanted a plain white cake.
So, I ended up with a lop-sided, 4-layer (technically 5 layers… two on top, one in the middle, and two on bottom), I-tried-really-hard-but-don’t-hire-me-cause-I’m-obviously-not-a-professional semi-cute, but TASTY cake.
That’s okay, because the Girl of Honor enjoyed it!
