Quick and Frugal Kid’s Cape

I was very cheap frugal with my girls’ Halloween costumes this year.  I refused to purchase a costume in a package for $20 or $30.  No way!

So, I got the bright idea (Monday, mind you) that I would make their costumes.

After a trip to Hobby Lobby and Walmart, I came out with shirts, skirts, and tights that could serve as a costume and be worn again later.  I also came out with material to make my sweet Super Girls a super cape.

If you do not count the battle of wills I had with the sewing machine midway through the second cape, it was a very easy project.  {And, just so we are clear, the bobbin was giving me fits… but the machine is still intact.  Nothing was broken during the battle.}

My "Super" Girls!

Minus the battle with my bobbin, it took about 30 minutes to whip one of these together (that includes the time it took to measure my wiggly, impatient 3-year-old!)

    Nice work! I’ve found that I’m a much “better” seamstress when I don’t worry about perfection. I’m learning tons as I go and getting better all the time – to the point that I’m making some blocks for my nephew for Christmas without a pattern OR tutorial! :>) They’re not going to be perfect, but I am pretty sure he won’t care.

    I suspect your girls’ superpower is supreme cuteness!!!
