Happy Mother’s Day!

Being a mother is a joyful and trying time, isn’t it? Some days it seems you have everything under control, and others… Well, other days, you wish you had just stayed in bed.

Or you wish you could leave.

But, oh, one great day is worth 10 bad ones, isn’t it? When your little one comes to you, with love-filled eyes and tells you how wonderful you are.

Motherhood is the very best job in the world!

My coffee is semi-sweet with cream and sugar… I’m feeling different today, so I needed a new taste.

My Bible is open to Proverbs 31: 10-31.

Yep. We are talking the Proverbs Woman today.

Oh, how I wish I had my life half as under-control as she!

She does him good, and not harm, verse 12

Oh my. Those words make me cringe. How often do I “harm” my husband with my words or actions?

She rises while it is yet night, verse 15

Yes, well… very good. I’m not always the first one out of bed in our house. {blush} Although, I do tend to stay up late into the wee hours of the morning. So, does that count?! Ha!

… and makes her arms strongverse 17

Well, the students in my youth group like to comment on my “guns” (aka, muscles in my arms), so it seems I have this one down…

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. verse 26

Nine times out of ten, the opposite is spewing from my mouth and on my tongue.

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. verse 27

Hmmm… If you could see the laundry piled up (clean and dirty), the girl’s playroom, my master closet, my oldest daughter’s closet, and my desk, you would wonder how on earth I claim to have a Type-A personality. {Truly, I do… it’s just there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything.}

And, idleness? Y’all, I feel GUILTY when I choose to read a book instead of doing housework or some other work. So, I idle… with a guilty conscience.

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her… verse 29

This, yes, this does happen. Occasionally.

… but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. verse 30

Fortunately, I fear the LORD. I have one thing right.

And, with Him, everything will fall into place.

My trust is in Him alone.

If I let Him lead… and if I follow…
