Shepherd’s Pie… with a little Season-All

I first heard of Shepherd’s Pie on my sweet friend Nicki’s site.

I remember thinking, hmmm… mashed potatoes mixed with other stuff? Um, thanks but no thanks.

I mean, when I was young, I hated mashed potatoes. With a passion.

Just ask my mother.

I would sit at the table for at least an hour sometimes, watching my mashed potatoes congeal, and praying that my parents would have pity on me and not force me to eat such awful food.

Yeah right.

The nights at the table usually ended with me tearfully washing down large bites of cold mashed potatoes with gulps of milk.

It’s funny how things change.

Now, I love mashed potatoes… both my mother and my mother-in-law can make some killer mashed potatoes, and I love it when they make them! I can’t eat enough!

Ahem.

Back to the Shepherd’s Pie story.

One night, I really wanted some comfort food. Something all warm and gooey and filling… you know that “homey feeling” you get when your happy and comfortable?

Yeah, I wanted that.

So I pull out Nicki’s recipe and think to myself, that it might not be so bad. She did say it was the perfect comfort food.

And I needed the perfect comfort food, so I made it.

And it was a hit. {I lurves you, Nicki!}

So when I went to find a recipe to use my Morton Season-All Salt, I was at a loss.

You know how I just throw things together, and that is what I wanted to do with the Season-All. {I mean, besides flavoring my water with it like little Meleah did!}

No, I did not coerce her into doing this. She scooted a chair up to the bar, climbed up herself, and “seasoned” her own water. All I did was grab the camera!

True story.
